Quebec City's Citadel
Quebec City's Citadel is a national historic monument and an official residence of the Governor General of Quebec. The Citadel, dating from 1820, dominates the City ever since and it has been build in honor of the British to protect Quebec City in case of an attack.
On the heights of Cap Diamant, the Citadel is now use by the Royal 22 nd Regiment of the Canadian Army.
It is a 25 building fortress in the heart of the City on the Plaines of Abraham and close to Chateau Frontenac. From the Citadel you are gonna have a trumendous view over the Saint-Lawrence River (See the picture on the page )
The Royal 22 rd Regiment performs impressive traditional military ceremonies like the Changing of the Guard everyday, it could be very hot under those uniformes but those courageous guys do it. You can also visit the Citadel with a guided tour.
